Questions
Questions, answered.
What the app does, what it costs, and what happens to everything you put into it. The short answers are on the overview; these are all of them.
What is PaketQR?
PaketQR keeps everything around a parcel you send in one place, whether it is a return to a merchant or a parcel with postage you bought yourself: the QR code or shipping label, the deadline, the tracking number, photos of what you packed, the posting receipt and the parcel’s later history.
At the parcel shop you bring the code up full-screen for scanning. Afterwards the app keeps what you may need if a return takes longer than expected, a refund goes missing, or a buyer says nothing arrived.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no account and nothing to sign in to.
Your parcels are stored on your iPhone and, while iCloud sync is on, in your own iCloud. Sending a parcel never depends on registering anywhere.
Which carriers does PaketQR support?
DHL, Hermes and DPD, in Germany.
The app reads what the code itself carries: the tracking number, the recipient and, where the carrier puts one in, the deadline — for a return, the return deadline.
Can I use PaketQR without paying?
Yes. The free version covers everything sending a parcel needs, for returns and your own parcels alike, and everything that counts as evidence afterwards: importing and showing codes, the tracking number, deadline reminders, photographing the posting receipt, photos of the items you packed, and the complete export of your data.
Pro adds automation and organization, for people who send more parcels or who want more out of what they have already saved.
What does PaketQR Pro add?
Pro is about convenience, organization and automation — not about locking away your own parcel information.
It adds automatic tracking with notifications and the whole history; search inside your item photos; evidence PDFs, one at a time or for many parcels at once; Ask; the advanced export; and shared codes, receipts and PDFs without the PaketQR line.
What you saved while using the free version stays yours.
Do I need Pro to track my parcel?
No. The tracking number stays with the parcel, and the carrier’s own page opens straight from PaketQR.
Pro adds the tracking the app manages for you: automatic updates, notifications and a fuller history in the app, so you are not the one checking.
Why photograph the items inside the parcel?
Because a photo answers a question that turns out to matter: what exactly went into this parcel?
That is worth having when several similar parcels go out around the same time, when one order goes back in parts, when a buyer complains, or when a missing refund has to be discussed weeks later.
Taking those photos and keeping them is free, and so is what the app reads out of them on the iPhone: the text, the colors and the objects in a picture. What Pro adds is the search over that, so a parcel can be found again by what is in the picture.
Does PaketQR upload my item photos?
No. The photos are analyzed on the iPhone.
The app picks out visible text and the useful characteristics of a picture without sending it to an outside service.
What is an evidence PDF?
A document built from what is already stored for a parcel, for someone who does not have the app — a merchant, a buyer, a support team, an arbitration body, a lawyer.
It can carry the parcel and tracking details, the recorded hand-over, the posting receipt, selected photographs and, if you want it there, the carrier’s history.
You decide what goes in each time you make one.
Does an evidence PDF prove the parcel was delivered?
No. The PDF documents the hand-over, not the delivery.
The app keeps evidence that you handed a parcel over separate from what a carrier reported afterwards. The posting receipt is evidence of dispatch; a carrier’s history is useful context around it. A tracking event is not turned into a claim that delivery has been proven.
What if I only need an evidence PDF once?
Nobody should have to buy Pro because one parcel turned into a dispute.
That is what the Evidence Export is for: a smaller one-time purchase that unlocks evidence PDFs and nothing else, for the moment a dispute starts. Pro includes it, but not the reverse — if you buy the Evidence Export first and want Pro later, Pro costs its full price.
More to the point, nothing waits for a payment before it is preserved. The receipt and the rest of the evidence are already there when you need them.
Can I export my data?
Yes, and not only with Pro. Basic portability does not sit behind the paywall — your own data is not held there.
Export all data, under Settings › Data, packs every parcel, receipt and photo into a ZIP — free, and staying free.
Pro adds the advanced export: narrow it to a date range, a carrier or a status, choose the columns, and get the table as CSV and Excel — with an evidence PDF per parcel and every deadline as a calendar file if you want them.
What happens to the receipt after I photograph it?
It stays with the parcels it belongs to.
The app reads the shipment numbers off it, matches one receipt to several parcels where that is what happened, and takes the printed hand-over time wherever it can be read reliably.
The receipt counts because it comes from the hand-over itself, at the counter, rather than from a lookup afterwards.
Can PaketQR remind me before a deadline expires?
Yes, where the code states a deadline.
The reminders are made on the iPhone and do not need the app to keep knowing what you are sending. The deadline can go in your calendar as well.
Is PaketQR any good if I send a lot?
Yes. Sending a lot is most of the reason search, photo recognition, managed tracking and a permanent archive exist at all.
That holds for returns and for parcels you post yourself, after a sale on Vinted or Kleinanzeigen, say. A workflow built for sellers is not something the app does yet.
What does PaketQR send for tracking?
Without Pro, PaketQR sends nothing to its own server. Opening the carrier’s page from the app hands the tracking number to the carrier’s website, as typing it in there would.
With managed tracking on, a request carries the tracking number and the carrier. Some requests also carry an anonymous key generated on your iPhone, and push notifications need a push token so an answer can reach you.
The name and address in your code are not sent. Managed tracking can be switched off, and the app works fully without it.
Is there advertising, or tracking by third parties?
No. No advertising, no third-party SDKs, no transmitted analytics.
What is in your parcels, the addresses on them and where they went are not raw material for an advertising profile.
What if PaketQR cannot read a code or a label?
You can still hand the parcel over.
What you imported is kept exactly as it came in, and the important numbers are shown as plain text wherever the app knows them. At the counter, the tracking number or the short code is the way through when a scanner refuses the screen.
Is PaketQR only useful after something goes wrong?
No. Most of it happens before there is a problem: the right code at the counter, the deadline remembered, similar parcels kept apart, the receipt somewhere you can find it.
The evidence features are there so that on the rare occasion something does go wrong, the story does not have to be reconstructed months later out of screenshots, emails and fading thermal paper.
Which devices does PaketQR support?
iPhone, iOS 17 and later, in German and English.
Some features, Ask among them, need an iPhone with Apple Intelligence.
